Writer blasts Twitter user for his viral tweet about the 'friend zone'

The friend zone is a myth. It's a fictional safe space created by those who just can't accept when a friend isn't romantically attracted to them.

For those who insist that the friend zone is real, here's a lesson for you via the Twitterverse.

A Twitter user named Mia Violet tweeted snapshots of a Twitter exchange she spotted that was all about the friend zone, and — as she so eloquently put it — it "escalated in an unexpectedly awesome direction." 

Here's what went down.

A Twitter user named Jiraiya tweeted pictures of pairs of cartoon and anime characters. In his opinion, all the male characters were being friend zoned.

Jiraiya probably didn't expect David Slack — the writer who created the Teen Titans characters, Beast Boy and Terra — to comment on this tweet. 

Slack was none too pleased with Jiraiya's interpretation of the characters' friendship and schooled him on the basics of autonomy and genuine friendship.
